room  in  the  halls.
The  portico  is  surrounded  with  windows;  it  contains  fossile
bones  of  extraordinary  size.  —  The  Giardino  Botanico,  (Braccia -
  20,811)  is  annexed  to  the  Museum.  The  hall  opposite  to
the  staircase,  contains  other  fossile  bones,  found  in  Valdarno
Superiore.  After  this  hall  destined  to  the  lectures  on  compared -
  Anatomy,  of  Zoology,  of  Botany,  Mineralogy,  and  Geology, -
  we  pass  into  many  others,  containing  different  instruments -
  for  the  study  of  Natural  Philosophy.
The  first  of  these  rooms,  is  destined  to  the  Lectures  on
experimental  physics,  and  contains  several  lineal  measures,
and  solid,  and  other  instruments  necessary  to  geodetical  operations. -
  The  second  hall,  is  destined  to  mechanics;  and  contains -
  all  such  machines,  as  are  requisite  to  demonstrate  the
laws  on  equilibrium,  and  movement.  —  In  the  third  room  are
hydrostatical  and  hydrodinamical  instruments,  with  severat
models  of  hydraulic  machines.  —  The  room  contiguous,  contains -
  the  machines  apt  to  demonstrate  the  chemical  nature  of
the  air  and  of  all  gazes.  —  In  the  fifth  room  are  the  electric
machines.  —  In  the  sixth  are  all  the  preparations  necessary
to  prove  the  nature  and  particularities  of  the  electric  fluid,
from  Volta’s  battery,  to  the  electricity  applied  to  magnetisme
—  The  seventh  hall  cuntains  a  quantity  of  loadstone,  natural
and  artificial;  and  several  mariner’s  compasses,  to  measure
the  decline,  and  the  intensity  of  the  magnetic  fluid.  —  Lastly
in  the  eight  room,  are  the  preparations  requisite,  to  demonstrate -
  the  different  proprieties  or  virtues,  of  the  light  and  the
refless  of  the  solar  rays,  and  a  rich  collection  of  instruments,
according  to  the  laws  of  optics.
Tribune  of  Galileus.
One  enters  this  handsome  hall,  on  the  right  of  the  first
vestibule;  its  architecture  is  by  the  Cav.  Martelli.
We  shall  note  the  paintings  and  sculptures,  from  the  right
of  the  door.
