elder’s palace, and was taken to this Gallery from the
Royal store-rooms in 1776.— The original sketch of this
painting is seen in the collection of Original Drawings
of Ancient Great Masters belonging to this Gallery.

him, to his right, and young St. John, led by an angel,
stands to his left. The back ground represent a cot-
