1141. DURER Albrecht.
The Adoration of the Kings. The Holy Virgin is
sitting by a cottage, holding her Divine Child on her
lap. The three kings are before her in adoration. A
long train of servants and animals is seen in the
distance.
This painting once belonged to the Imperial Gal¬
lery of Vienne, and was brought to Florence in 1793.
It bears the monogram of the author with the
date 1504. — On wood. Half life size.

Heorodias, attended by her maid, in the act of han-
ding a dish to the executioner, to receive St. John’s
head which he holds by the hair and gives to the
princess. Half length.
This painting was formely attributed to Leonardo
da Vinci, but it was recognised as the work of his
pupil Bernardino Luini. It was discovered in the
storerooms of the Pitti Palace in 1793. — On can-
