ridam ob nimium æſtum eſſe inhabitabiles, verum non eſt. Experientia enim,
& nauigatione Luſitanorum, Hiſpanorumq; ſatis conſtat, ſub Aequatore, hoc
eſt, ſub medio Zonæ torridæ, plurimos populos habitare. Item ſub polis, ſal-
tem ſub polo Arctico, id eſt, ſub medio frigidarũ Zonarum, vt refert Magnus
Olaus Got hus. Immo omnes, qui eò nauigarunt, affimant, optimam eſſe ſub
Aequatore habitationem, cuius rei cauſas longum eſſet hoc loco recitare. Nam
quidquid ſit de frigore, & calore, credendũ eſt, Naturam, quæ regiones calore;
ac frigore diſtinxit, homines quoq; & cętera aĩalia ad locorũ patiẽ tiam quoque
generaſſe, præſertim cũ uideamus & Luſitanos, & Hiſpanos tãdẽ aſſueuiſſe fer-
re intemperiem Zone tortidæ, cum multi hoc tempore ſub Aequatore degant.

Q vo autem pacto terreſttes Zouę cæleſtibus ſint directe ſuppoſitæ, dilucide
explicat ſubiecta figura, in qua ex omnibus quatuor circulis minoribus cæli
ad centrum terræ deductæ ſunt lineæ rectæ. Vbi enim hæ ſuperficiem terræ
interſecant, ibi ijdem circuli in terra deſcribuntur, ita vt omnes, circuli in ter-
ra ad perpendiculum ſubijciantur circulis cæleſtibus. Ita enim fiet, vt facile ex
vltima propoſ. lib. 6. Euclid. colligi poteſt, cum cælum & terra idem habent
centrum, ſegmenta aterræ, quæ dictis circulis includuntur, eſſe ſimilia ſegmen-
tis cæli inter eoſdem circulos cęleſtes comprehenſis.

V nde ſi à dictis parall clis cęl eſtibus perpendicula demitterentur ad ſut
perficiem terrę, quæ ad centrum mundi neceſſario vergerent, deſcriberentur
ab illis in terrę ſuperficie circuli ijdem directe cęleſtibus illis reſpondentes.
