DE REG. CHINÆ. dificiorum ſplendore, quam anno-
rum perpetuitate: qua in re du-
bium eſt, utri alios ſuperent. Sinæ
quippe, extruendas ædes, humanæ
vitę brevitate metiuntur, ſibi enim
non aliis ædificant: noſtri vero pro
innata libidine adſpirant ad æter-
nitatem. Hinc ſit ut neque animo
concipere, neque ſibi perſuadere
poſſint, ædium noſtrarum ſive
publicarum, ſive privatatum ſplen-
dorem; & ſi quando audiunt, mo-
les noſtras plura ſæpe ferre ſecula,
imo nonnullas annos mille, alias
bis mille durare, obſtupeſcunt; cu-
jus durationis cauſam rogati, eam
referimus in alta ſolidaque funda-
menta, quorum profunditas reli-
quam molem ſuperſtructam ſuſti-
nere poſſit. Sinæ contra vel nul-
la effodiunt, ſed ſolum in con-
cuſſo ſolo lapides prægrandes lo-
