662. Regula Secunda.

Si immutetur Tuborum altitudo, manente diametro, etiam
metallica craſſities requiritur in ratione ſubduplicata altitudinum,
ut maneat proportionalis firmitas.

663. Regula Tertia.

Hinc mutata Tuborum altitudine & diametro, requiritur metal-
lica craſſities in ratione compoſita, ex ſubduplicatâ diametrorum
& ſubduplicatâ altitudinum ratione.

Si igitur craſſities maxima ponatur = C. minor = c. altitudo
maxim a = A, minor = a. diameter maxima = D minor = d. erit
C. c: : D. d. & C. c: : A. a. atque multiplicando antecedentes per ſe, & conſequentes fit CC,
c c: : AD, a d. adeoque datis A, a, D, d & C. cognoſcitur
quoque c. craſſities invenienda:

Innixus Experimento Mariotti cum plumbeo Tympano facto, in
quo craſſities 0, 2 pollic. retinebat aquam in tubo 100 pedes alto,
diametri 1 pedis, tum huic regulæ Tertiæ conſtruxi ſequentem Tabu-
lam, in qua poſitis Tubis diverſarum altitudinum & amplitudinum
craſſities plumbi determinatur, quæ ſufficientis firmitatis erit.
