Tab. 7. fig. 4. Magnes A innatans Cymbæ in vaſe aquæ pleno

105. EXPERIMENTUM LXXXIII.

Tab. 7. fig. 5. Sit Magnes A, C, D, K, cujus ambo poli
A, D, proinde cujus axis ſit A D, dividatur bifariam in C K, ſectio-
ne perpendiculari ad axim, erit unius ſegmenti polus A, antea Au-
ſtralis, adhuc Auſtralis, & B Boreus: alterius ſegmenti pars a, quæ
adhæſit polo Boreo B, erit polus Auſtralis, pars D polus Boreus, ut
ante.

diviſum eadem præbebit phænomena: Del Porta in Magia Nat. & poſtea Ridley, in Treatiſe of Magnetic Bodies Ch. 9. contrarium
affirmant, ſtatuentes polum Auſtralem A mutatum iri in Borealem
factâ ſectione: An hoc ipſis contigerit neſcio, & dubito: mihi con-
trarium evenit, atque mecum conſentiunt Gilbertus Lib. 2. Cap. 5. de Magnete, tum Barlow in Magnetical advertiſements, Chap. 2.
ſed penitus ſecabam, directricem vim in omnibus ſegmentis man-
malleoque findebam, polum Auſtralem mutatum eſſe in ſemi-
boreum, imo aliquando penitus in Boreum, unde ejuſmodi ſegmen-
tum duos polos Boreos in ſuis extremitatibus habebat.
