542. Experimentum 3.

Detur fruſtum vitri, craſſitiei duorum pollicum; dentur
variæ laminæ ejuſdem vitri, quæ, ad ſe mutuo applicatæ,
omnes ſimul craſſitie duos pollices non æquant; hæ minus
erunt tranſlucidæ, propter aërem interjectum inter laminas,
quàm fruſtum cujus omnes partes cohoerent.

543. Experimentum 4.

Dentur, ex eodem vitro, duodecim laminæ, quantum
fieri poteſt ejuſdem craſſitiei; ſex & ſex ad ſe invicem ap-
plicentur; ex duabus hiſce congeriebus ſi minus tranſlucida
aquæ immergatur, extracta, tranſluciditate, aliam vincet; quia aqua, quæ in hoc caſu interſtitia inter plana replet,
denſitate cum vitro minus differt quàm aër.

Confirmantur ulterius, & extra omne dubium ponuntur,
quæ de opacitate dicta ſunt innumeris experimentis, quibus
corpora perfectè tranſlucida, ſeparatione partium, non in-
terveniente corpore ullo opaco, opaca fiunt.

544. Experimentum 5.

Agitetur liquidum quodcunque, perfectè tranſlucidum,
quod in ſpumam poteſt converti, donec in bullas extenſum
ſit; ſtatim opacum erit, ex interſtitiis aëre repletis.

545. Experimentum 6.

Reſina terebinthina, & aqua, ſunt corpora tranſlucida; commixta corpus formant opacum.

546. Experimentum 7.

Aqua & oleum commixta ſunt opaca; licèt ſeparata ſint
tranſlucida.

547. Experimentum 8.

Vitrum quantumvis tranſlucidum, ſi in pulverem redi-
gatur fit opacum. Etiam ex rimis in vitro hoc opa-
cum eſt.

In hiſce omnibus clarè videmus opacitatem dari, quia
inter partes tranſlucidas interjacet medium diverſæ denſi-
tatis; quod etiam in nubibus obſervatur, quæ opacæ ſunt
ex aëre inter aquæ particulas interpoſito.

Si hiſce addamus, quæ de tenuium laminarum coloribus
in capite 22. ſequenti dicuntur; nova habebimus experi-
