SIM. PORTII COMMENTAR. Sed media, vt ait Auerrois, ſexto Phyſicorum, ſunt
in duplici differentia. quædam enim ſunt media for-
mæ, quæ ſpecie diſtinguuntur ab extremis, & certa
ſunt ac finita: quædam ſunt quæ appellat media tran-
ſitus, quæ quia differunt ſecundum magis & minus,
poſſunt carere numero.

Adfert item differentiam, & cùm ſplendi
dum ac coruſcans eſt id quod admiſcetur: aut contrà, ſquallidum, & minimè ſplendi-
dum. eſt autem coruſcans, nihil aliud niſi
continuitas luminis, & denſitas, fit enim au
reum, quando flauum & ſolare denſatum,
vehementer coruſcat. Quare et columba-
rum colla, & aquarum guttæ, aureæ appa-
rent, cùm lumen repercutitur.

Docuit tres præcipuè eſſe cauſas apparentium co-
lorum multitudinis: quarum prima fuit lumẽ & vm-
bræ, quę dixit conſtituere differentiam non ſolùm
per ſe & ſingillatim, verùm etiam vt participantur à
coloribus: hanc iam mihi videtur apertius explicare,
quomodo inquam lumen & opacum, prout partici-
pantur à coloribus, pariant hanc differentiam. inquit
