LIBER. lis caliditas adeſt: nec rationi cõſonum eſſe uideatur, ut ſo-
mnus refrigeratio ſit, & cauſæ ſomni calidæ. Vtrũ igitur
hoc eò accidit, quòd quemadmodũ uẽter inanis calidus eſt,
ſed cùm oppletur motionis ratione refrigeſcit, ita meatus,
& loci in capite poſiti, euaporamento cõmeante refrige-
rantur? An quemadmodũ aqua calida perfuſi, repentè in-
horreſcimus: ita illic frigus aſcendẽte calore collectũ, par-
teis eas refrigerat, & calorẽ naturalẽ debilitat, ac ſubter-
fugere cogit? Prætereà an quemadmodũ congestu ligno-
rum ignis restringuitur, ita multa alimonia, quã calor ſub-
uehit, ſuperioribus ſe immiſcẽte, calor naturalis elãgueſcit: donec utiq; illa concocta, perfectaq́; ſit? Fit enim ſomnus,
ſicut dictũ iam eſt, corpulento quopiã ui caloris in ſublime
per uenas euecto: quod cùm diutius eo loci perſistere nõ po
teſt, ſed copia exuperãte aggrauatur, rurſum depelli, & ad
ima fluere ſolet: quapropter & ipſi homines corruũt (ani
maliũ enim homo unus erectus eſt) calore, qui eleuãdi mu-
nere fungebatur, ſubtracto: atq; ſimulac cor incidit, mentẽ
aufert, déinde imaginationes, & uiſa ſuggerit. An ſolutio-
nes, quas modò dixi, cauſas cõtinent, propter quas refrige-
ratio fieri poßit: ſed tamẽ locus ille, qui circiter cerebrum
habetur, in ea re cõmittẽda principatũ obtinet. uti alio loco
diximus? Nã cerebrũ partiũ omniũ corporis frigidißimum
eſt: in ijs uerò quæ carent cerebro, id quod uicẽ eius tenet. Quẽadmodũ igitur cũ humor exhalat, & calore ſolis in
ſublime fertur, ubi ſupernũ aëris locũ ſubierit, præ rigore
loci refrigeratus conſistit, ac denuo in aquam cõuerſus in
terram defluit: ita cùm calor ad cerebrum eleuatur, excre-
