VIGILIA

declarat, quibusq́; competat oſtendit.

249. CAP. I.

_DE_ Somno, & Vigilia, hæc conſyderemus
oportet: primùm, quid ſint, & utrũ ani-
mæ, an corpori propria ſint, an utriſque
cõmunia: & ſi cõmunia ſint, cui parti tam
animæ, quàm corporis credita: & cur tri-
buta animalibus ſint: & utrũ, utrumq; omnibus cõmunica-
tum ſit, an alteris hoc, illud alteris ſolùm, an alijs neutrum,
alijs utrunq; . Tum etiã quid ſit inſomniũ, & quãobrẽ dor
mientes modò ſomnient, modò nõ ſomnient: aut ſomnient
quidem ſemper, ſed nõ meminerint: & hoc ſi fit, quam ob
cauſam fiat. Item poßint´ ne futura præuideri, necne: & ſi
poßint, qua ratione præſentiri queãt: et utrũ ea ſolùm, quæ
agantur ab homine, an etiã quorũ cauſa ſit Deus, & natu-
ra fiant, temeritaté ue aliqua. Ac primùm quidem illud
cõſtare arbitror, ad candẽ animalis partẽ ſomnũ, & uigi-
liam pertinere, quãdoquidẽ oppoſita inuicẽ ſunt, & ille ut
priuatio quædã huius habetur: nam ſemper extrema tam in
alijs, quàm hiſce quæ à natura dependent, in eodẽ recipi, & eiuſdẽ effe ctiones eſſe uidentur: ut ſanitas & morbus, pul-
chritudo & fœditas, robur & imbecillitas, uiſus & cæci-
